STAR GAZING Holy Cross Catholic Primary School ・ FACT
As part of Liverpool's Battle of the Atlantic centenary commemoration events, Anne helped a class of 7-8 year olds to create two animations, based on anecdotes from Atlantic Star veterans. Big Ears Day is a humorous tale about 48 hours on look-out, and Lucky is a reflective look at life as a sailor during the Battle of the Atlantic. During the workshops sessions, Anne took the children location drawing, teaching them how to use sketchbooks to inform their work. These drawings formed the basis of the films, which the children storyboarded and animated using iPads and stop motion. The films were displayed at the Merseyside Maritime Museum, as were two illustrations created by Anne from the children's drawings.
